Al- Ameen Educational Society was started in the year 1966 by Dr Mumtaz Ahmed Khan, the Founder and Chairman along with a group of his dedicated colleagues.
The first college of the Society, the Al- Ameen Arts, Science and Commerce college came into existence in 1968 in a rented building behind Govt. Medical college Bangalore with just 33 students on roll in the first year PU course affiliated to BangaloreUniversity.
The college campus was shifted to the present location at Hosur road near Lalbagh main gate, Bangalore in a sprawling 6.5 acres of land housing other Al- Ameen Institutions.
Today the college has a strength of more than 1,300 students studying in different streams of UG and PG courses with a separate Foundation for Ph.D. courses in Commerce Management, English and Economics.
The college is reaccredited by NAAC with ‘A’ Grade and affiliated to Bengaluru Central University. 
The Department of Sociology is in association with “WOMEN EMPOERMENT CELL” of the college. Through this cell, the girl students of the college are exposed to a wide variety of activities which help in broadening the horizons of understanding the world. The department conducts workshops on Human rights, celebrates International Women’s Day and National Integration Day on regular basis every year. All these prepare our students to face the competitive examinations and any other career they embark on. 
 In sports, the college has bagged Bangalore University athletic championship for the33 consecutive yearswhich is the National record and perhaps globally too”.
The Alumni of our college consists Civil service officers Karnataka State Administrative and Police Officers, Professors, Doctors, Engineers, Entrepreneurs etc at National & International level.
