INTRODUCTION
The Post Graduate Department of English was established in 2014 affiliated to Bangalore Central University. Since then adopting the syllabus designed by the University and establishing relevant specializations such as, British Literature, Indian Literature in English and in English Translation, American Literatures, Introduction to Language and Linguistics, Literary Theory, Gender Studies, European Literature in English Translation, Cultural Studies, Critical Reading and Critical Thinking, Emergent Literatures in English Translation, Academic Writing and Research Methodology, Media and Film Studies, Subaltern Narratives.
The objectives of the Department include the creation of committed post- graduates in the field of English Language and Literature and provide a hand on experience in creating the sensitivity required for becoming creative interpreters and acquiring a sufficient levels of literary competence and exposing the students to a rich variety of literary texts across the world.
The Department organizes extra- curricular activities, trains the students to participate in various programmes, debates, cultural events, book clubs, etc. Students are encouraged to present and publish articles in seminars and conferences at the national level organized by institutions in Bangalore. We have students from all parts of India and also have a number of foreign students too.
Some of the students who have completed M.A English are pursuing their Ph.Ds. from foreign & Indian universities as well. The Department has well experienced faculty who encourage research and practice.
