The department of Urdu was established in the year 1968 with its former HOD Prof. Mir Jaffer Ali, Urdu has been a popular subject, among the students. The Urdu language is Indo Aryan language, the language is dominant in India and has enjoyed patronage in the sub continent. It is a sweet and simple language one can learn it easily. Its has rich legacy and learning Urdu. will open the doors to fascinating cultural, practices, traditions values and norms that one can understand by reading the classic literature from the 14th century. The Urdu syllabus covers versatile poets and writers, such as Mirza Galib, Mir Taqi Mir, Allama Iqbal and Faiz Ahmed Faiz, Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, Hali and Shibli etc. the works of these authors have always appealed to generation of all times.

• The main objective of the department is to revive the distinctive language of Urdu among the new generation.
• To spread awareness about literary and cultural importance of the language in the lives of mankind and to high-light the identity and relevance of Urdu literature and culture.
• To expose students to diverse career opportunities available in after pursuing Urdu.

Persuading youngsters to appreciate Urdu language and promote its versatility.To preserve the rich culture heritage of the Urdu language. To unify people from diverse linguistic backgrounds.

• To promoting Urdu as the language of knowledge.
• Motivating and preparing students for undergraduate studies.
• Imparting quality education at all levels of teaching including language, literature and cultural studies

• We provide students platforms such as debate, competitions, essay writing, reciting gazals, Mukalima and baitbazi etc.
• We have also conducted National/ State level seminars on varied topics.
• We have sent our students to participate Inter Collegiate competitions, Door darshan and rally to promote Urdu.
